Having worked in the legal field handling medical fee disputes for work comp cases, I saw much of what this doctor said and also the explosion of spine surgeries in 90s forward. Also, many of these procedures are performed at outpatient surgery centers, which also exploded onto the scene in at least the early 2000s and are huge moneymakers, all owned by the group of docs who work there. Most have ownership interest in multiple centers under different names. None of it smelled right to me, let alone the exorbitant costs and the need for repeat or additional surgeries. Good for this Doc exposing the industry, for whatever good that might do.
